Jacto makes sustainable jewelry by upcycling discarded fish skin and bones into bracelets, necklaces and rings with timeless style. Our pieces get noticed and start conversations. They bring us together, forge new friendships and help us see the value in our earth's resources.
Starting with the leavings of commercial fish houses and seafood sellers, Jacto repurposes these stunning, unappreciated treasures from the ocean into captivating jewelry and accessories. Each piece comes with a unique story and brings new meaning to the way we design and consume.
Designed in our Williamsburg, Brooklyn Studio and handcrafted by expert jewelers in New York City using quality 100% recycled, nickel free metals; Jacto is meticulously designed and constructed for lasting wear.
Jacto was founded on a belief, that jewelry could alleviate design waste instead of contributing to it. Each piece starts from upcycled material and is finished with conflict-free recycled metals free from harmful alloys. We are proud of our work and grateful for the support and love we receive from our clients
After spending eight years as a footwear designer in New York City, founder/designer Melanie Maggio left a successful career path and began working with discarded fish teeth from sustainable seafood seller Wild Fish Direct. Melanie’s idea was to create a jewelry and accessories company that repurposed seafood waste into timeless pieces that start conversations and speak to the unrealized value of what comes from our oceans.
